1) Why do you think organizations should develop their own information technology project management methodologies? Why can’t they just follow a book or a methodology that has already been developed?

Business requirements and goals may be common across industries, and project management software can assist in breaking down those requirements. Industries are fairly standard, but companies have their own unique needs and requirements, as well as its own language and culture. Time zones also can impact those methodologies. Books usually contain out of date technologies and process. Understanding and training the methodologies can be confusing and time consuming.
